About AFA-CWA

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) is the world's largest labor union organized by flight attendants for flight attendants. AFA represents over 55,000 flight attendants at 20 airlines, serving as a voice for flight attendants at their workplace, in the industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill. Simply put, the goal of flight attendants who become part of AFA-CWA is to negotiate better pay, benefits, working conditions and work rules at their airline, and to improve their safety on the job.

    COLLECTIVE BARGAINING STAFF

    AFA-CWA negotiates the best flight attendant contracts in the industry, maintaining and improving wages, benefits and working conditions for flight attendants. AFA has a large staff of full-time lawyers and professional negotiators dedicated to this effort -- which is supported by a state-of-the art communications and research department

    AIR SAFETY, HEALTH & SECURITY

    AFA-CWA fights exclusively to improve conditions that affect the safety, health and security of flight attendants. AFA provides full-time staff support in Washington, DC for the AFA Safety Committee chairs and members at various carriers.  AFA-CWA is responsible for solving complex problems that often can not be solved at the carrier level. 

    COMMUNICATION & RESEARCH DEPARTMENTS

    AFA-CWA recognizes that accurate, timely communication with members makes the union stronger.  AFA-CWA's state-of-the-art Communications and Research Department develops and produces materials that inform the membership and the public on issues concerning flight attendants and the industry. The department also provides statistical analysis and background information for use in campaigns. AFA-CWA remains the world's leading expert on all issues relating to flight attendants.

    GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

    AFA-CWA has a strong presence in Washington, D.C. and around the country in influencing policies impacting our profession. For many decades, Congress and the government have  respected AFA's knowledge of our industry and they turn to AFA in times of crisis.  AFA's strategy is to win workplace improvements under the law, so we won't have to bargain for them at the negotiations table.

    EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

    The AFA-CWA Employee Assistance Program is a confidential resource available to the members, their families and their partners to assist with personal, as well a work-related concerns. AFA EAP provides: assessment, support and resource referral, advancement of professional standards through conflict resolution and response to critical and traumatic incidents.
